Central location, metro within walking distance, good breakfast. The Novotel's usual standard. The indoor pool was the right reward for our kids for the sightseeing tours.

The location is fantastic. The breakfast buffe is very varied.
We booked a standard room with a kingsize bed. We got a small room in the more scruffy wing of the hotel with two beds. When we complained we got upgraded to a suite in the same corridor. The room was without breakfast and with a 13 percent surcharge added to the price of the room. The breakfast costed not 121 yuan as Booked.net claimed but 148 yuan. That is approximately the same price for one person as a Beijing duck dinner for two on town. Then you could at least expect to get cheese and ham without having to ask for it and not having to fend off people having sat down at your reserved table when you're getting back with your filled plates. One of us has stayed at the hotel before and was disappointed by the old wing. You have to climb two stairs to get to the elevator which is OK by us but I guess disabled persons would have problems with that.

Found very little to like about the experience of staying at the Novotel Beijing Peace - very busy hotel with crowded atmosphere
Very busy hotel, to crowded for our liking. We needed to use Internet but not working at this hotel - working everywhere else!

What I liked best was the excellent location of the hotel, very near Wangfujing shopping area. I also appreciate the courteousness and efficient service of the hotel staff.
There were 2 things I didn't like: 1. I booked online and realized upon check-in that the room was in the old wing. It was a bit of a walk to get to that wing from the hotel lobby; and 2. After I checked in, the bellhop helped me carry my luggage to my room in the 4th flr. He opened the room door for me and we were shocked to know that the room was currently occupied by someone else. There were no chain bolts in the rooms! After some clarification with the person in the room (good thing he was decent), we said sorry for the incident. The bellhop decided to go back to the reception desk downstairs while I waited upstairs. After some 10mins, he came back and apologized for the mistake. The reception desk gave the wrong key the first time. I did not feel too secure in my room because I realize the hotel staff could just open the door at any time because the doors (in the old wing I guess) do not have chain bolts.
